Marie Kumabe

Marie Kumabe, Principal, provides Executive Recruitment and Human Resource Consulting.  KumabeHR incorporates cutting edge technology and an enviable network to the search for top talent.  She has spent the last 10 years actively engaged with Hawaii companies, partnering with them to insure that their organizations have access to the best HR trends as well as leadership candidates.  She has over 20 years in business, with 15 years specifically in staffing and recruitment. Marie is a recognized leader in the field of staffing and human resources in the state as is demonstrated by her appointment as the current Faculty Director for the Masters of Human Resources Management program at the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii.The 15 year unique relationship Kumabe has with the University delivers an amazing network representing the top emerging talent available in the state.  She launched a successful national staffing franchise and sold her interests to start her own company and serve the community on her terms. She has also served as Director of Human Resources for American Hawaii Cruises and has held senior management positions with Continental and Northwest Airlines. Marie received her undergraduate degree from UCLA in International Relations with an emphasis in Business, and holds a master’s degree in Human Resource Management. She is active in organizations like the Junior League of Honolulu, Nuuanu YMCA Board, the UH TIM Alumni Organization and Aloha United Way.

Kara Iwasaki
 
Kara Iwasaki, Vice President, oversees KumabeHR’s staffing division. Her ten years of experience in staffing, recruitment, sales, employee relations and development make her an effective leader and great resource for our client companies. Kara’s responsibilities include client relations, candidate recruitment, interviews, placement, and employee relations. Prior to joining KumabeHR, Kara was a Human Resources Specialist with the City & County of Honolulu, Department of Human Resources in the Labor Relations & Training Division. She received her Bachelors of Business Administration in Human Resources and her Executive Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Kara has extensive community involvement and has additionally been a tremendous supporter of student organizations over the years. She is active in the Honolulu Junior Japanese Chamber of Commerce, The Cherry Blossom Festival, Society of Human Resources Management, and has supported numerous community non-profits. Some of her significant career accomplishments include reformatting and launching the City & County Internship program and the Departmental Employee of the Year Recognition for 2011. Linell Sylvester
 
Linell Sylvester, Human Resource Manager, manages operations, staff development, and compliance. She also assists in business development, staffing, and consulting. With over fourteen years of progressive professional experience, Linell brings ten years of management experience in sales, recruitment, training and development, and customer relations from various retail establishments, including her most recent employer, M.A.C. Cosmetics. Linell received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Justice Administration from the University of Hawaii at West Oahu. She also received her Masters in Human Resource Management from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and is also a candidate for an Associates of Arts degree in Paralegal Studies with an emphasis in labor relations and employment law. In addition, Linell is actively engaged with the non-profit community, and is a longtime volunteer with the Life Foundation and the Girl Scouts of Hawaii. She is also an active member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Hawaii Chapter and the Aloha United Way Society of Young Leaders. Linell’s extensive knowledge in employment law combined with her exceptional communication skills serve as a great resource for our clients and employees.

Kristine Uclaray

 

Kristine Uclaray, HR Coordinator, provides recruitment planning, social-media marketing, and organizational support services. Kristine is responsible for job fairs and community outreach events. She also assists in candidate assessment, development, and client services. Kristine graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources from the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is currently pursuing her Executive Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management at University of Hawaii. She has six years of experience in HR and customer service. Her professional experience includes an HR position with the Board of Water Supply. She is people oriented and has been recognized for her excellent customer relations services. She values community involvement and has served as the VP of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) at the University of Hawaii, and was an active member of Business Executive Society of Tomorrow (BEST). Kristine ensures that our candidates receive the best service, tools, and resources they need in order to achieve success.

Glenda Supnet

Glenda Supnet, HR Coordinator, provides operations management, payroll management, and HR administrative support. Glenda services all payroll activity that includes maintaining and collecting payroll employee and client records, processing weekly employee payroll, and filing unemployment. Her responsibilities also include managing confidential employee files and client documents, organizing events and special projects, scheduling clients, and recruiting. Glenda received her Bachelors of Business Administration in Human Resources from the Shidler College of Business, at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She plans to pursue an Executive Master's Degree in Human Resource Management in the near future. She was an active member of College Opportunities Program (COP) providing mentorship to new university students and the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Aloha Chapter. Glenda has received numerous scholarships and recognition from local foundations and business organizations. Her professional experience includes serving as a student assistant at the School of Travel Industry Management and four years of customer service experience in a retail setting. She brings tremendous customer service and organizational skills to the company.
